Description CCB seeks a full-time Associate Research Scientist to develop and design new tools using computer vision to enable new discoveries in biology, and, more broadly, computational science. Areas of current interest include fluorescence reconstruction and image restoration for multi-channel microscopy, self-supervised age estimation using temporal data, and pose estimation for molecular structures in cryo-electron microscopy. However, we are looking for someone who will both collaborate with current work but also pursue their own creative research ideas.

We are seeking an Associate Research Scientist with experience in image processing, computer vision, and deep learning research. The ideal candidate will:
- enable CCB biologists and biophysicists to denoise, segment, track, and model biological processes using microscopy
- utilize the latest techniques in computer vision for biology such as self-supervised and contrastive learning, continuous estimation, super-resolution and interpretability
- collaborate with the other Flatiron Institute centers such as computational neuroscience, computational mathematics and computational astrophysics to utilize state-of-the art computer vision methods to extract information from images

Associate Research Scientists may develop their own research programs or work in collaboration with senior research scientists at the center. These are typically appointed for an initial three-year period; the appointment may be renewed for up to another three years. They are also expected to interact with other researchers in CCB, across the Flatiron Institute, and in the wider scientific community, as well as supervise/mentor postdoctoral fellows and undergraduate/graduate student interns. They are encouraged to participate in and shape the vibrant activities of the institute such as workshops and seminars. They receive a research budget, participate in the selection and review of research staff, software engineers, and postdoctoral fellows within CCB, and have access to the institute's powerful scientific computing resources.

The position is based, and has its principal office, at the Simons Foundation in New York City.

Strong skills in data analysis
Technical and scientific curiosity a must
Ability to collaborate on multidisciplinary research in a collegial environment
Effective communication, documentation, and user-support skills

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The full-time annual compensation range for the Associate Research Scientist level is $130,000 - $155,000, depending on experience.
